Practical use of scientific approaches to the assessment of health risk from acoustic impact allows more efficient and reasonable decision of many city-planning issues of reconstruction of residential blocks with old buildings, optimization of the layout of new districts; development of recommendations to reduce health risks from exposure to traffic noise within strategic decision-making in the field of transport infrastructure, including road, rail and air transport; selection of priorities for the development of territorial systems for monitoring the environment.
The Institute has considerable experience of conducting research and design works using the criteria of health risk from acoustic impact. We have carried out projects for local authorities, for the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, for road construction companies, for industrial enterprises, for transport companies, for designing and construction organizations.
We develop noise reduction measures in the areas adjacent to the roads; predict negative noise effect considering traffic, within development of the section "Protection against noise" of project documents; help to choose areas for safe and promising housing. We carry out projects on territorial zoning defining high-risk areas and appropriate architectural and planning measures to reduce noise and health risks, including designing of safe playgrounds and recreational areas considering acoustic pollution of urban environment.
